A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Detroit, MI

During the last ten years since my diagnosis I have found myself losing interest in hobbies more and more.
Has anyone else lost interest in things that they used to enjoy due to their chronic pain?

I have. I've lost interest in most things that use to interest me including intimately. It's depressing and mentally draining.

Allergic To Steroids????

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newburgh, NY

What do you do if you are allergic to steroids? The last time I had a steroid shot, I turned all red and got very itchy. I tried to take prednisone and it made it worse. Since then, I cannot take any steroids at all. Some of my doctors can't believe I'm allergic, but I get this reaction every time I try to use them. I even had a reaction to an asthma inhaler that had a steroid in it. HELP??? What do I do for my back pain, my bursitis, etc.

i am allergic to certain medications.when i was younger i could take anything but now i have to be careful.

What Can I Do To Alleviate Back Pain From Endometriosis?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
London, ON

I’ve had extreme back pain for 10 years, every since a couple months after I got my first period... I have larger breasts and have endometriosis, I believe it affects my back more than anything else because when I had my period (before I went on Depo-Provera and got an IUD) I’d hardly be able to walk from all of the pain combined, and regardless of me no longer having it, I’ve had more severe back pain, although I don’t have anything physically wrong with me. My doctor did some basic strength… read more

I believe that the endometriosis could cause all the back pain. Maybe you could see a specialist in that field. As I understand it you have tumors filling your uterus and that would certainly cause a… read more

What Can I Expect?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dallas, TX

I have had pain after a radical hysterectomy that blew up and opened and healed from inside out. There is a lot of scare tissue that is pulling my bowel, tightening down on various areas in my belly. I am sick all the time, run infections, sweats, and feeling like my insides are being pulled out. I start with pain 5yrs after surgery, and a CAT scan picked up the enlarged groin lymph nodes, then to the knees, pain in the inter thigh, on both sides. I can let my cats on my lap. I pushed my doctor… read more

How Does Genetic Testing Fit Into A Chronic Pain Treatment Plan?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Blue Springs, MO

I recently started seeing a psychiatrist to try to break the cycle of chronic pain = depression = more pain = worse depression and she suggested genetic testing to see which meds might work best with my brain chemistry. She used the Genomind system. The results focus mostly on efficacy: how well a particular med might work with my brain and less on predictable side effects. Along with assessing a wide range of psych meds the profile also evaluated analgesics. Finally, I have confirmation that… read more
