I recently started seeing a psychiatrist to try to break the cycle of chronic pain = depression = more pain = worse depression and she suggested genetic testing to see which meds might work best with my brain chemistry. She used the Genomind system. The results focus mostly on efficacy: how well a particular med might work with my brain and less on predictable side effects. Medicare covered the testing. It costs $300 for those without insurance.

Medicaid covered mine. The results are in and I will get them at my next follow up. I'm hopeful that it will help with my MDD, PTSD, & BPD I've been trying so many meds and no real results this may narrow down the 6 mental health meds I'm on to a couple effective ones.

How interesting ! Does insurance cover the testing ? Sounds like a very good idea, to indicate what works and what won't. Glad you found it helpful and your meds can be prescribed accordingly. 😊
