Not a 5 star dinner just a properly cooked normal everyday dinner where everything was cooked perfectly. Restaurant quality meals are way back in my 20s n 30s when I was head chef in a big city hotel in Norwich. They were great times but what I've always loved n still love cooking are the meals I was brought up n raised on when my mum was a widow with notalot of money IE: a good properly cooked roast, proper heartwarming stew/casserole, shepherds/cottage pie, a meat pudding,a hearty homemade soup, meals made from leftover meat from a roast. I can still do some of the food I did in my chef days but what really makes me sit back shut my eyes n say "god that was bloody good" is a properly cooked normal everyday family meal that I have to alter now to allow for my type2 diabetes but it still remains the food I was brought up.on cos that kind of food makes me feel warm n happy inside. My favourite is a properly cooked roast leg of lamb with fresh rosemary and garlic with fresh veggies, a couple of roast potatoes, yorkies, homemade stuffing n gravy made from meat juices with the leftover lamb going into a good homemade shepherd's pie with cheese crusted leeks. If I go out for a restaurant meal with my family I usually go for a good rare steak with mushrooms, grilled tomato, fresh peas, baked sweet potato chips cos in my youth steak was so expensive we couldn't afford it but now with the advent of supermarkets like ALDI n LIDL good quality steak is within my budget but I will ALWAYS love the foods/meals I was brought up on more than anything else cos even in a good roast/shepherds /cottage pie there are memories of incredibly happy times with my.late mum. This is the kind of food I brought my son up on foods that create memories of happy times. Today these foods are what my son n daughter in law cook most of the time together with other foods they both love. Always remember SIMPLE MEALS COOKED PROPERLY MAKE HAPPY MEMORIES! Lolo
