I was on oxycodone for about 14 years. After that long my tolerance rose and it did not help for the entire 6 hours. I went to a pain clinic and am so happy I did. All I really wanted from them was breakthrough meds to take when the oxy did not work a full 6 hours. I was so surprised when two drs reviewed my chart and interviewed me. Because I have a multitude of conditions, including INTERSTITIAL LUNG Disease, Copd, and Pulmonary High blood pressure. << there's a name, can't think of it. Anyway because of the pulmonary disease Oxycodone was a unsafe drug for me and they refused to prescribe it. Instead they talked to me about Subutex. Or Buprenorphine. Many of you may know about this drug when combined with arcane for Opiod Addiction. The one Im taking is used for chronic, all over pain. I WAS SKEPTICAL!! But was very surprised to find that this medication was very effective against the persistent, and agonizing pain I had had for so many years. There are many time when I will feel the first twinges of pain in my hands or back and I will realize that it's been 12 hours since I last medicated. So my testimonial for this medication is that it tastes like yuk, it's a sublingual drug, but it has far exceeded my expectations. For those that haven't tried a pain clinic here's a tip!! There are two kinds. One is intervention only. This means shots or a spinal device for treating pain. And the other kind, which I go to does medication and intervention too. You'll need to check. It may depend on your state. I'm in Oregon.

I see some of the messages some have listed which are very mild meds. The opioid drugs you m😀ust learn how to take. Your Dr. Will instruct you I have been on them for quite some ti.e and am not addicted. I take them as prescribed. If you have long term severe pain.they are necessary for quality of life. Fi d a good pain management Dr.

@LorraineCSpark hello I have found that heat relieves my back pain and my neck so do you have an electric blanket? If not then a heat wrap would help

I weened myself off gabapentin, I now only use morphine patches and paracetamol however, I started to use essential oils for pain I use one teaspoon of fractionated coconut oil (base oil) I then add 3 drops of frankincense essential oil mix them well I then rub it in using a circular motion it does the trick for me.
