Im not sure how tonrespond yet on this app so i hope this gets to you. Ive been told fibro is in your head and to find a psych dr that specializes in people with my condition. I know this pain is real and i hate that drs are saying its in my head so im still learning a lot about it and hoping that some meditation, or cbt therapy will help because i cant stand it. I cant even be touched without being in pain. How is that in someones head, you know? It took 20 years for the drs to get to this ppint with me. Inwas told i was lying about all of my pain amd was drug seeking because i am an addict in recovery ans now im being told again its in my head deal with it. Its heartbreaking to me the way the medical field is. I have groin pain that is so severe it stops every aspect of my life but because something doesnt show up on a scan im fine and ot must be in my head of im pverexaggerating. My hip pain is terrible but because only one sode has osteoarthritis the other sode must not hurt me and im just looking for surgery. My back is horrendous but im being told its normal wear and tear, thats that 7 herniated socs and 3 bulging discs , thats no lt arthrotis at my l5-s1, but to them it is so i canf get treatments for anything because they are saying this is age related, even after all the abuse ive expalined ive gone through, the car accident that almost killed me.... its all normal. So now i cant help but think thisnis normal but i have the gnawing feeling that something isnt right and i need another dr but my ins doesnt cover second opinions

Welcome to this wonderful group. It's not uncommon to find people here that have been in pain for several decades. Although I've lived in pain for 28 years, my source of pain does not seem to be the same as yours. That doesn't matter as pain is pain, regardless of the cause.
If you haven't tried it, you might want to think about a guide relaxation CD/video. As you know, living in constant pain is very stressful. I've been doing this for years on a daily basis. Life is stressful even if we don't have pain.
Only you can know what helps and hurts you, so be as proactive as you can be in your own treatment.
We all have certain needs in our lives. For me I need to socialize, so I do things that fit into that category.
Laughing is very good for us because it creates endorphins, and they are a natural pain reduces. Maybe a very funny movie on TV might help
Lastly, if I can do something that I enjoy, I am distracted from the pain some.
Just jump in and ask questions when ever they arise. BTW, there are many members here that deal with fibro
Hugs, Jean
