What Treatments Have You Tried For Neuropathy?
I have been told I’m on the only medication available to treat neuropathy. I currently take lyrica, cymbalta and generic tegretol. Does anyone know of any stronger or more successful treatments?
You could try Topomax too. I had nasty side effects on Gabapentin and Cymbalta but Topomax has been working great for the past 4 years with no problem!
I am currently on Gabapentin which is the generic for Neurontin and Cymbalta. I asked a Dr about Lyrica, and was told that it is essentially the same medication as Gabapentin. However, when I asked one of my better Drs About Lyrica, he said, it was more hype than effective. So I would recommend asking your Dr. to switch out Lyrica for Gabapentin and see if that's more effective for you. I find my most effective pain reliever to be cannabis (THC not CBD). And I tried a lot of stuff for nine months before I tried Cannabis. Nerve pain sucks. There's a device called a TENS unit that helps with the pain. It sends mild electric shocks that sort of distract your brain from the pain, because they're a different sensation. The thing that I love most about them is that they not a pill and you can use them whenever you want. Also, many health insurance plans cover them as durable equipment. Hope this helps!
P.S. Don't underestimate the power of icing.
