What did we learn? From the unconcerned ("Just take a walk") to the plain unhelpful ("Why don't you eat better?"), advice is hurled at us from friends, family, coworkers, even strangers. While most suggestions are probably well-intentioned, hearing them over and over can make us feel that our condition is minimized and misunderstood.

My Dad would always tell me to get over it. I felt very hurt by that every time but I never said anything to him. He passed way and I wish I would have told him how I felt.
