It really depends on what kind of nerve pain you're talking about.

For neuropathy either Lyrica® or Neurontin®. Which one often depends on the person. Either is also used for fibromyalgia pain.

For radiculopathy or sciatica, surgery or a spinal cord stimulator works for me.
Actually, surgery was ruled out for me right away. Other problems than the pinched nerve & herniated disc made my risk far too great for an operation (in 2006). Extreme amounts of Neurontin were prescribed, but I was so sensitive to aggravating the nerve I ended up wheelchair bound until my first successful Spinal Cord Stimulator in 2016. With PT I was able to walk up to ½ mile each day with a Rollator for balance (0% small fiber nerves from ankles down). I used a much lower dose of Neurontin just for the Neuropathy pain.

Hope the broader scope of nerve pain types is helpful in getting the relief you need.

I take L-theanine for mine, in addition to Lyrica. 200-300mg at night makes a world of difference!

I "climbed" the WHO pain ladder as recommended by my neurologist for my chemo induced peripheral neuropathy and found that only Percocet worked for me...45mg/day. Not pain free but at least I can sleep better. We pain patients are being persecuted due to a hysteria created by PROP and one Dr. Kolodny...go ahead...look it up for yourself. It's unconscionable!
