Angelita, I had read of these CDC guideliness. They are draconian. I find it dificult to believe they give only 1 day pain relief for someone having a major operation. I am glad I live in Australia. The Gov. here has tightened up on opioids, I agree with that, but not with the cruel decisions Trump has made. I hope you get better soon.

@AngeitaTorres Hi an welcome! I'd say do the drive if you can get meds that you need. I know nothing about Alaska as I'm in NC, think green and swampy, so my knowledge of what goes on in your state is nada. Is pot and cbd legal? That might help. You've got so many things on your plate that a one pill cures all mindset just may not work. I'm not on often but I'm going to add you to my team. Good luck. Barb

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member Good for you getting them to stop tapering you. I wonder how many idiot doctors remember the part of their oath that says do no harm? I swear this whole thing on tapering long term chronic pain patients is a feel good political ploy to make it look like all of them are doing something about drugs. Yeah, right! Let's prosecute those with legal prescriptions while those dealing methamphetamine, heroin, oxy street grade , and other hard drugs just get on with business. There are things in the planning stage right now that will make life even more fun. I believe I read this on the pain patients site that there is a proposal for even deeper infringement of the right to privacy by the DEA. They want to track people on opiods through not only Board of Pharmacy logs but with drug stores and doctors offices, especially if those patients are receiving drugs like Valium or other anxiety meds. On top of that Elizabeth Warren wants to facilitate a scenario where your pharmacy would require you to come in twice a month to pick up half of your prescription. So instead of driving 60 miles once a month you get to double that. Won't that be fun? That may have been shot down or so I hope. There is an entirely new staff at my pharmacy so I'm expecting blowback on my prescription. The child pharmacist does not want to argue with me. I will chew him up for fun. Normally I'm easy to deal with. The last little boy pharmacist was not happy when I verbally bit him. I'm feeling evil tonight all from sleep deprivation. So forgive the evil me for being so grumpy. I'm sorry I am responding so late,I'm usually very good about getting back to everyone right away but I tell you this chemotherapy is kicking me in the butt.I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I agree with everything that you said. I talked with my gastroenterologist/oncologist and my pain management dr.and from what they have heard is in January the AMAi is going to court against the CDC and DEA about this whole mix up .Supposedly the guidelines and tapers were intended for acute temporary pain for regular doctors not pain management drs. I sure hope it's true for us all .My pain doctors are actually on our side and I suppose I can understand being terrified to have what they worked so hard for taken away. They agree that the government does not belong in the drs office at all. Then the drs that just stop people cold Turkey and run and call us addicts don't deserve a medical license, they took an oath. I'm sorry for rambling what we have all heard 100 times .This Warren lady now she needs to suffer at least feel what we feel for a couple days, I guarantee she'd have a white flag flying in the air taking back everything she said. I don't wish pain or illness on anyone but 2 to 3 days of our pain would change all of these people. That's just one of my crazy thoughts. Well my new friend and fellow pain warrior. It is 3 a.m Alaska time and another night of no sleep. I'm going to get in a couple z's or I will feel much worse tomorrow. I sure hope that you have a great day.
