Any Ideas To Help With Excruciating Wisdom Tooth Pain?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Latrobe, PA

My wisdom tooth came through halfway, but there is no room and it's of course stuck like so many other people get. The pain and swelling is so bad I can't open my mouth and I feel sick to my stomach. I can't handle a lot of things with strong scent, but it has agitated the tooth on the bottom now too and I feel like I could lose my mind the pain is so bad and the emergency dentists are all still closed. Any ideas?

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member Nice to see you back and still functioning. Did you find out what was used as the anesthetic for that extraction? Knowledge of exactly what he used and the dosage plus manufacturer's name is important if it was the injection or the prestick topical. I have not worked in dentistry in almost 30 years but I still ask questions and try to keep up. Most of them use Lidocaine with epinephrine. The epi is probably what kept you from the allergic reaction until it happened later. I would suggest calling the doctor and asking what was used and which pharmaceutical company made it. I throw that in there because sometimes generics have a slightly different recipe then big name brands. So not knowing who treated the allergic reaction I would get the name of the drug and the details. It's important because other types of surgeries and procedures also use Lidocaine and your treating doctor is better off, as are you, if you know exactly what you're allergic to. Hugs girl. Heal well and keep moving. Barb.

Hi! I had all the four teeth removed. It was something that I really needed to do.

Michelle I feel your pain. I’ve had to have all of mine removed because of long term codeine use. My first son had no enamel on his baby teeth and had 4 caps by the age of 2. His adult teeth aren’t much better. His father is deathly afraid of the dentist, thus from age 12 to 17 when he left his fathers home, he had no dental care...so we are a family of bad teeth! I can only hope his son (due in December) has his mother’s teeth!
