How To Sleep More Than An Hour

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Griffin, GA

I’ve been in a flare since around Thanksgiving, I also took two Falls in the same night affecting my neck and shoulders mostly, I followed up with my surgeon; but, X-rays didn’t show anything. I’ve been bed ridden since. My question is this, how can I sleep for more than an hour or so without waking from the pain? (My sides are my only option for sleeping due to 7 Spinal surgeries.) I can’t get out of my house for any length of time, my walls are closing in on me!!! Any suggestions greatly… read more

Trazodone has been a BIG help for sleep! I’m also on Gabapentin but it makes me sleepy during the day!

In First place Compassion for your situation i don t know if i have usefull tips but i give it a try ( my englisch is not very good because i had it 3 years on school and learned it from popsongs)

Melatonine is natural and can help you with night and day rithme you can buy 1 mg in store but i had 5 mg on reciept so you can take more.

I also listen often to micheal Sealey on you tube he has special tekst for sleeping and pain management and it helps to destract a bit from the pain and surtanly stops you from overthinking it is very nice to follow his voice when you are desperate
Please check this out it is my lifeline and works like a anker and maybe it can help you

You can also do a body scan with turn every muscle on and relax... on and relax ...ect. By doing this your body can relax deeper afterworths.

Then of course you have sleeping pills who are specialy for sleeping true the night instead of falling a sleep but those can only previde by doctors.

I sleep on ice and have cussions between my legs.Sleeping on ice is very dangerous you can hurt your skin but i have very thin ice packets who melt fast enough so i get no dead skin.

What the problem is with bedridden is that you can t have enough movement . O was bedridden to and i started with exercises for bedridden people (or pregnant women ) it are soft movements where i could do the half of it . It gave me structure during the day in bed. And after two mounths i could go outside to walk 150 meters with nordic walking sticks. Now i go two times a week to fysiotherapy.

keep the faith !

And keep on moving in a very soft way with very small exercises

Wish you better days ahead of you and strength to carry the pain hope it becomes manageable one day

I’ve had three neck surgeries! All from the front. The surgery itself isn’t too bad, just be sure you have plenty of cepacol!
