Lodine Upsets My Stomach So Much. Even When I Take With Food And Milk. How Can I Manage This And Still Be Able To Use The Medication.

My doctors feel that I am having internal bleeding somewhere, as my hemoglobin keeps dropping, so they have stopped all nsaids, etc. I am scheduled for gastro testing, but need to get through the days to my scheduled appointment. I am allowed to take Tylenol, but it doesn't help much...Just hoping for a solution

I have had 2 gastric surgeries d/t BC Powders (goody powdwers) that I have taken for years. For those who don't know what those are, they are nsaids that work in 15 minutes on my headaches. They are addictive and destructive. Those meds cause rebound pain and you need to take another one hours later. That will be what puts me in my grave. Please don't start this vicious cycle!

Thank you Sandra and Lisa, I do take a PPI omeprazole just increased to 40MG. But still waiting for gastro appt. on 7/13/18 and then Hematology on 7/26/18. Still depending on Tylenol for little relief. The liquid form is working best, but gives me a bathroom issue the next morning(sorry gross) I appreciate the support thank you both.

NSAIs are notorious for causing gastric problems & are usually prescribed with a gastric protector like Omeprazole or Lansprazalole they are a group called Proton Pump Inhibitors, they reduce the effect of gastric acid etc etc Some NSAI are worse that others but none are exactly kind to the gut if you have not had a gastric protector then I am not surprised you have problems. I take them at the same time & since I take nsai twice daily I also take ppi twice too. The medical folks were not too happy about twice daily but fortunately my GP was more understanding. I believe his comment was "yea they are not the ones with the pain!!"
It is just possible you have Helibactor its a kind of infection & you can have a bleed with it. Bit of luck & you just need a bit of altering to your meds.
Meantime I can't see Tylenol helping either your pain or the bleeding much have you tried Gaviscon Double Action at the same time doesn't work miracles but it might help a bit.
Hope you hear from them soon take care
