How many here know that putting steroids anywhere near the epidural space is not recommended by the FDA, and ESIS are outright BANNED in several countries because of the longterm negative side.effects, such as Arachnoiditis, which is directly attributed to ESIs.?

Members shared mixed experiences with epidural steroid injections (ESIs), with several reporting worsening pain, no relief, or the development of arachnoiditis, a chronic and debilitating nerve condition that some described as causing permanent, excruciating burning and tingling sensations. Several members expressed frustration with medical providers who either downplayed risks, required ESIs as a prerequisite for other treatments, or were reluctant to diagnose arachnoiditis due to concerns about liability. A recurring theme was the tension between a few members who found long-term relief and many others who felt uninformed about the serious risks, left to navigate inadequate pain management, and seeking validation and understanding from the community when they felt dismissed by the medical system.

Catherine, I believe it may be New Zealand that banned Epidural Steroid Injections. ...
all it takes is ONE time for them to SLIGHTLY misplace that needle ! There have been people who had DOZENS before a bad one, and there have been people who were destroyed by their first and.only, it's like Russian Roulette. I had only 3 and then developed Arachnoiditis. .. If you want even more, permanent, excruciating, nerve pain, just keep getting them.

Tell her you know they aren't FDA approved and that they can cause Arachnoiditis, and that they make her lots of money, and see if she would like you to explain her ultimatum to the medical review board, etc......

There is a UK Facebook Arachnoiditis group , as I just realized that you are a Brit. They may be more helpful in navigating your medical systems hoops.

Do you have a recent MRI ? I might suggest sending it to a Dr Tennent (sp?) who is one of the few Arachnoiditis "specialists" out there..... He is well spoken of on the Facebook Arachnoiditis pages.
