Does Anyone Else Suffer Weight Issues Due To Medication?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I have been on Lyrica for about 6 months and have put on about 12 kgs. The problem is it is mostly around my middle section and added to the chronic pain it is getting me down. Has anyone else experienced weight gain while on Lyrica and how do you combat it. Really need to be able to lose some of this weight as the extra kgs are making my back pain worse.

Has Anyone Had Gastric Bypass Surgery?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm looking into having gastric bypass surgery to help with weight loss in hopes of it helping the chronic pain I deal with daily. My biggest concern is that I might make another healthcare issue. A few of the meds I take cause weight gain so just dieting doesn't make the scale move much. I'm hoping with the sleeve and taking my stomach down to 1/3 of its size will help me get past the medication issue. So if anyone has had this done please share what kind of outcome you have had. Any help will… read more

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm curious to know if anyone will be willing to share if they have ever had weight loss surgery or have they know someone close to them has had it I was curious about the actual weight loss process and if anyone has had great success or failure after it? I know it is a serious process and NOT a easy way out like Others May perceive it to be.

Anyone Feel Meds Working Better After Weight Loss?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

As many have experienced my meds were cut down over the past 2 years per the CDC and DEA nightmare attack on chorionic pain patients. Well, in an effort to help my meds help me better I decided the only thing open to me was to loose weight. I had ballooned up and over 400lbs. and I knew that couldn’t be helping all my problems
For the next year my wonderful wife created and is feeding me a salad and fruit bowl once a day for dinner. And that’s all I eat for the day
Now the salad is a… read more

Med Question

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello all. Med question for the masses.
I am on lithium (bipolar) and Dilaudid (chronic pain). The pain med adjusts as needed between morphine, Dilaudid, and oxycodone due to tolerance.
Has anyone in a similar situation experienced any side effects or other effects?
Thanks.

Lumbar Spine Surgery, Should I?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Diagnosed with severe Lumbar spinal stenosis. Orthopedic doc recommended laminectomy and fusion. Decided to go to a neurosurgeon for second opinion. He also recommended laminectomy on three vertebrae and fusion on three vertebrae. I won't kid you, I'm scared. Is the surgery going to work, relieve me of pain? How long is the recovery? He says it could be 6-12 months! Anyone had this experience? I've had two knee replacements and two cancer surgeries in the last 18 years. I hate the thought of… read more

How much levels are you having fused? That is important. Two levels are considered multilevel and that should be enough. I was a fool to trust a surgeon to do a five level lumbar fusion plus my… read more
