I has the same thing in my right thumb and wrist. Shots got so they didn't help. So my doctor did surgery. It cut my backside of my arm and took out a ligament (muscle) and then cut my hand right up from my thumb. He removed the scars tissue of what was left and then what he took out of my arm, he just rolled it up and put it in place.
Works great but now my left hand needs done.
I would recommend this for anyone.
Good luck

Bone-on-bone arthritis in the wrist can be quite painful. While there's no cure, a combination of several strategies can help manage pain and improve function. I will briefly state only some non-pharmacologic and non- invasive ones:
a) Physical Therapy: Exercises to strengthen muscles and improve range of motion.
b) Wrist Splint or Brace: To rest the joint and reduce pain.
c) Combinations of other pain relief protocols such as anti-inflamatory nutrition & decrease in carbohydrate intake. Nutritional supplements and alternative medicine such as acupuncture can help also.

Last point, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for a personalized treatment plan.

I had a steroid injection and wore a thumb brace for 2 weeks. It has helped me for over 2 months so far. Yes the injection is painful but worth it for the relief I got. I saw an orthopedic pa. Worked way better than just injection my pain dr did!

Trudy,
I get steroid injections, use Diclofenac gel and hand wraps. Hand wraps are a must!
