How Do You Manage The Summer Heat?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Here in the Delaware Valley, we've already experienced some extreme temperatures, and summer has just begun. While newscasts suggest staying hydrated and indoors, I'm interested in hearing from patients with chronic pain. What strategies have you developed to maintain your pain levels and prevent breakthroughs during the hot weather?

YES! And I'll compare it to drinking something cold, but even better. It seems to literally cool from the inside.

I manage it by only taking Benji for walks in the coolest times of the day, for myself I use the highest level moisturising sunblock possible, lots of fresh homemade greek yogurt and strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, pineapple, banana (all bltzed fresh fruit no processed ingredients),lollies, popsicles, ice cubes in every diet cold drink, lots of homemade fresh crunchy salads, holding an ice cube on ur wrist pulse points really cools u down too, an electric tower fan on in my living room n bedroom, sleeping on top of my bed instead of getting under my duvet really helps, all windows open during the day, always wearing 100% white cotton t-shirts n tops, 100% cotton boxers wearing 100% cotton shorts, all basic easy everyday methods n
ideas, white reflects heat away from me, black n colours absorb the heat, open sandals, no trainers, 100% cotton socks when I need to wear socks, a fresh unused teabag in each shoe, trainer, plimsoll kills the smell of sweaty cheesy feet. I've bought myself an electric worktop icemaker (not expensive) that doesn't need plumbing in so I have fresh ice all the time, bottles of still spring water and cans of diet soft drinks ie: cola for my old fridge that still works perfectly, food goes in my new fridge. There u go nothing difficult !

"holding an ice cube on ur wrist pulse points really cools u down too" is great advice that I don't think enough of us think about.
