Yes I know how you feel, so much pain I barely have 2 hours per night sleep, and doing 74 miles getting to work back and forth plus doing my daily chores it's not easy.

I was on a similar drug years ago.. Elavil. Same class of drugs. While it did help my nerve pain, I went thru that sluggish, dopey thing in the mornings. It's a side effect of the medicine and for me it didnt go away. I had to stop taking it because I was driving a route that started early in the morning and could not tolerate being less than alert on the road. If the dose is lower, that helps but then it isnt as effective so its kinda a catch 22

The only medication that helped with my Trigeminal Neuralgia was an epileptic drug called carbamazapine
It didn't take it away & it does not last the full duration B4 my next dose but it does give me a couple hours between doses to function but usually that's the only time I can get any quality sleep I know it's far from perfect but better than nothing - that's what I keep telling myself. I'm on Tizanadine for spasms & now Nortriptyline to block the burning stabbing feelings that I get to help me sleep at night, but I'm a groggy mess most of the day until it's time to take it again..... I'm pretty sure one of those drugs is causing my Fentanyl Patch to not work as well. I'm just so frustrated, fed up & at the point that enough is enough
already. I know I'm preaching to the choir, it's nice to hear from you Norma & know that someone out there gets how I feel.
I attached a picture of my grandson - he usually makes me smile.

My pain Dr is who put me on Nortriptyline - I see her every 3 months. for a double Ryzotomy on my lower back & si joints, a pelvic block & now she's going to try a Trigeminal block with Botox
which is new to me- not sure how that works... I'll let ya know. I can't take sleeping meds or Benzodiazepines I have a paradoxical reaction.
Instead of helping me sleep or calming me down the wiree up & send me through the roof. You'd think that would be great
Buuut Yeeeah Nooo
Not enjoyable at all
My dog Bugsie is my anxiety & de-stressing medication
That makes sense yeah
I hope you're able to get some pain free shut eye tonight. Things will be chaotic for me until the weather settles down & decides to be sunny again.

Hi Aseret, I am sorry you are having so much trouble with the medication you are having to take. I tame the same medication that you are on, plus I am seeing a pain management doctor. He has me on a pain medication plus a strong sleeping medication and that helps me some. I am retired so I can sleep when the pain isn't as bad, so I grab a hour when I can. Norma3
