Is It Worthwhile To Go Off Our Meds Every Once In A While, To Cleanse And Reset Our Body?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Walkersville, MD

We all know how after a while our medications no longer work, or they are not strong enough. We also know that pain is cyclical in nature and that sets us up for this never ending need for our meds and for them to get stronger. And knowing this, and that we'd be in excruciating pain for 5-10 days while we reset, is it worth it?

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member please be careful doing that! If you've been on those meds for a long time coming off of them for 5-10 days (depending what meds they are) could make you have severe withdrawal effects and also cause a seizure. Talk to your Dr first before you decide to ever do something like that. Tapering slowly down and maybe taking half of your dosages might be OK, but always consult with your Dr first. I understand where you're coming from though. I hate taking pills everyday. But without them my pain is unbearable, then the deep dark depression sets in and I don't want to get out of bed or bathe for a week. I never go that long without bathing I really force myself into the shower. I'm sure many can relate when their bodies feel like complete crap and simple.movement hurts and depression sneaks in to remind us on how life used to be before we got hurt or developed autoimmune diseases. Being a grownup is B.S!

These warm days make me wish I could have recess or summer camp again, and run and play..... My days of running are long gone.
