Tramadol Replacement: Dealing With "considerable" Chronic Pelvic & Internal Lumbar Pain From Adhesions Pulling, Tugging & Much Worse

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

Basically this has been over 30 years, even on Fentanyl way back, effective but I stopped it thinking the next repair surgery would work:wrong ! Been living on Tramadol, Gabapentin and maintenance drugs since. Any suggestions on replacment for Tramadol ? In todays climate we all look like "drug seeking persons", WOW that gets old. Any help would be so apprecited. HELP thanks again

I am sorry you all have been dealing with these issues with pain meds. I have been on things, as prescribed after surgeries. Oxycodone I think. It is very rare that I have used more than a couple doses. I had Tramadol very scarcely. That is my go to, had it on PRN a while back. My day to day is Gabapentin and Tylenol. I feel the pain in my low back all the time. I had a fusion a few years back and it moved back on to my nerve root it was suppose to have fixed. Getting ready finally, after a two year wait due to triple bypass, fractured sternum, and months later taking the plates and hardware out because they were all working their way out anyway. Three surgeries in 15 months.

I am probably not the most smiley person around, due to the pain everyday, especially when I am walking, but I am now going to cardiopulmonary rehab twice a week. So I am probably not a good person to answer this. I do wish you all some better help with your meds for the crappy pain you all are living with. Hugs!

If you find something PLEASE post. So far I have been given a codeine combo. It doesn't do a very good job and codeine is not good for my mood to put it nicely I turn into a witch when I take it. I am chronic not terminal but there is NO "cure" on the horizon in my life time so the "you will get addicted" doesn't work in my case. I believe in quality of life above quantity !!

I have been taking both of those, too. Also, I have been wanting a replacement for Tramadol. It is not suppose to be taken long term.
