Is The Lack Of Access To Pain Meds Even Worse The Younger You Are And Also How You Look?

For example I know of older people that went to the same doctors as me and they got prescribed pain meds while I was denied. Or is it because I'm covered in tattoos and therefore look like the stereotype drug seeker?

Members shared deep frustration over the difficulty of accessing pain medication, with many agreeing that younger patients, those with tattoos, and women face unfair biases and stereotyping from healthcare providers who wrongly assume they are drug-seeking rather than legitimately suffering. Several members described painful personal experiences, including being denied adequate pain relief after surgeries, during hospitalizations, or for chronic conditions, while simultaneously watching others with histories of misuse receive prescriptions easily. A recurring theme was the call to self-advocate fiercely, seek out supportive pain management specialists, and connect with advocacy groups like American Pain and Disability or Don't Punish Pain to fight back against systemic discrimination.

Not that I'm super young anymore. I'm 48 and just had my 24th surgery a couple weeks ago and was in my opinion under medicated for that. I'm still having pain from it and was only given a weeks supply of pain meds which given my normal pain was practically useless. But yeah I see all thru my med records where doctors note that I'm heavily tattooed as if that means something.

Hmp37 , That’s a bunch of BS… They don’t live in your body. Therefore don’t know your pain… BS!!!,
