Has Anyone Had Good Results From A Nerve Block Epidural Into The Neck?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had an MRI on my neck as I have had so much pain over the last year, this has shown mild scoliosis, problems with C4/5, C5/6 and C6/7. these are ranging from mild to moderate disc bar narrowing plus a few more bits and bobs that I am not sure about. I saw a senior physio at my local hospital a few weeks back who made me feel if I was making a bit of a fuss saying that we all have problems especially when we get to 58, she played it down and said she was reluctant to get an xray as most… read more

I went to The Canadian Back Clinic for my epidural shots. I found that they had no side effects, you should try it. The neck one really relaxed my neck and shoulders and my headaches stopped. The needles in my back did not work though, rather unfortunate. I went each month for 4 months and received 16 epidural needles at a time in various parts of my back to no avail. But just because that did not work for me, it doesn't mean it will not work for you. They are considered the best in Canada. Many people attest to it working for them which is very hopeful!

I had an epidural in both sides of my lower back and it didn't help at all. It was as if nothing happened except for the unpleasant procedure and a big medical bill that followed. Won't do it again.

PS: I would try to find another physiotherapist if i were you. While what they said is true, they are taking the wrong approach with you in my opinion. They cant possibly know to what degree your age-related pains are, and while you do need to be stoic, it’s not helpful for someone to behave that way. You might find a better match, if there is any way to request a change of provider within your healthcare system (whether thats within the same clinic or a different one).

I have had a few into my lower back and they were a bit hit and miss, I just wondered if the neck was any more painful to have done and whether people had a good relief from them.
