Magnesium For Leg Pain

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Detroit, MI

For the past 12 years I have suffered from neuropathy in my legs and have been taking Lyrica for pain.
Recently the pain has worsened so my doctor prescribed Magnesium.
Has anyone else taken Magnesium for pain and has it worked?

I take Magnesium every day. But you have to be REALLY careful what form you take. I take Magnesium Glycinate or Picolinate. Do not take oxide form or you will spend your time in the bathroom with diarrhea. It really helps with migraines, Fibromyalgia, and any neurological issues.

Lorainne it was recommended by my doctor. It is mostly used for stress. I use it for my legs and for constipation (opiates). You can adjust the dose to meet your individual need.

I use chewable magnesium, latently very hard to find. If I got a leg cramp I would chew two tablets and it was like a miracle how my legs and feet would disappear. A word to those trying this...magnesium can also loosen the bowels... be careful of taking too much!🙃

I get magnesium without the stomach upset by taking Epsom salts baths. Please check sources for this as I believe there are studies to bear this out. Worse case scenario you have a soothing soak.
