How To You Handle Being Called A Junkie?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Castleton ontario

I wasn't called a junkie to my face. After about 2 years in constant pain, I made a visit to my family Dr. He told me that's what's recorded on my file from one hospital. I was mortified and so angry.

Believe me...They record EVERYTHING! If you're on opioids then your name is on "the list.". If your doctor is good, kind and know what they're doing he or she won't cut you off. I am glad my doctor weaned me off morphine. Do I miss it? You bet I do. I was NEVER goofy, high or silly. I was able to do more and move easier. If you are in chronic pain and take medication for it ......you are NOT a junkie! I get that there are people in place who don't want folks dying from overdosing. Chronic pain sufferers will not overdose because we're too busy counting our pills to make sure we don't run out by the end of the month!

What you take for pain is between you and your Doctor.
