Inaccurate Urine Screen

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Fresno, CA

I’ve been on Oxycodones & Norco’s since 2006 . My doctor asks for a urine test and ends up dropping me cold turkey for a negative test on the Norco’s. How the hell does this happen after taking the same meds for all these years ? No second chance, no sit down to ask why . Just get out of office before we call police. Does anybody see something fishy with this doctors office??? Do I need an attorney? Or let it blow ? Withdrawals will kick in soon.

Members rallied around someone who was abruptly dismissed from their doctor's office after a negative urine test for Norco despite years of consistent use, with many expressing outrage at the lack of explanation or second chance and offering urgent advice to find a new doctor immediately and seek emergency care for withdrawal symptoms. Several members shared their own harrowing experiences of being dropped by doctors for minor infractions like having wine in their urine or saying the wrong thing, with many recommending reporting the doctor to the state medical board for patient abandonment and considering legal action against providers who deny care to chronic pain patients. A recurring theme was the desperate need for legal advocates to fight systemic injustices in pain management, the frustration that drug addiction treatment receives better care than chronic pain, and the hard-won lesson that patients must stand up for themselves and demand answers because no one else will fight for them.

I would let it go. The withdrawal could be bad. Be sure to get to ER for drugs to counteract the withdrawal.

That is so wrong. That fact that you showed up negative for Norco probably makes them think you’re selling them. It should be against the doctors oath to deny a patient care for pain. We need legal advocates to fight for us in the courts and in the senate.

Find a Suboxone clinic. They helped me go cold turkey in January and started me on a treatment plan. I'd been on oxy for 5 years.. M nerve endings are starting to repair themselves. Be patient with the new clinic.
Drs nowadays perscribing oxy are being forced by the Govt to reduce the number they can write, or loose their lic.

I din t know but it sounds horrifying your with your back against the whole. Maybe you do as quik as possible a new test on your own call , then you can go for a second opinion.
It sounds very concerning. And i am so sorry you have to go to the withdrawals.

I will pray for you that there comes another outcome to this story.

Greetings from Holland
