Has Anyone Tried “Tapping” In Terms Of Anxiety And Pain Relief??

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

‎By ”Tapping”, I mean “EFT” (Emotional Freedom Techniques) - Tapping theory is a combination of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.

I've read lots of really good things about it (in terms of anxiety, chronic pain, depression, limiting beliefs, dealing with loss, etc.) and have three books on it (including one specifically for chronic pain)!!).

I'm just curious if anyone else has consistently used it (my problem is my lack of consistency), and how it's worked for anyone who has.‎

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member....Re: "Researching everything to death"....
Same here!! I find myself doing just that almost DAILY. It is one thing to go about self-education, however when I get hyper involved on some topics it has an incredibly negative, self-pitying effect. I don't need that!! So I have to be careful about it, mostly by being conscious & deliberate in what I decide to read about my disease. It makes me feel better to educate myself!!!! Yes, there is the chance of getting oneself into that always foreboding Google Pit of Doom, where you eventually convinces yourself that you are dying from cancer or some other horrificly prolonged ailment for sure! Lol. No one needs that! Especially when we are dealing with so much on any given day as it is!
Personally, I find that it is almost always a positive to take it upon myself to educate whenever possible about my pain and/or diagnosis but also just as VITAL to be capable of self-awareness & restraint, if & when necessary, before the 'researching' turns wholly unproductive. Just keep an eye on yourself while researching (perhaps set a timer or set a certain number of articles that you allow yourself before moving on with your day). And if you do find yourself on that all-too-familiar, self-sabotaging, & ultimately counterproductive road....Know when, & more importantly HOW, to call it quits before traumatizing yourself to an entirely new degree! Lol. God knows none of us need THAT!! ;-)

Yes. I use to do it but I don’t know why I stopped, I guess that I just forgot. Thank you for the reminder.

I should point out that the tapping I mean is the kind that's a combination of ancient Chinese acupressure and psychology - it uses your body's meridian points, it's tough for me to explain (I've tried to explain it to many people).
The best resource I've ever found, and the one I always recommend, is The Tapping Solution (this is where I learned and all my books come from as well). :)

I hope this helps everyone who is interested. :)

I have been there. But I wasn't married yet thank God but at the time my daughter was so worried about me. That she would sleep on the other half of my king size bed scared to death about why I was twitching and crying and having to be emotionally I don't know it was just I was unsound. I was an emotional wreck so I know exactly how you are. Just tell him you have to cry it out and practice the Tappan just one finger on your forearm on the table and focus on the tapping just everything focus on that finger tapping what do you do it for 2 minutes 5 minutes 10 minutes focus on the top until you feel like you've got that many minutes controlled afterwards. That's how my therapist at the time would tell me to do it and you'll eventually see that you can tap for 2 or 3 minutes and be able to control an hour it's amazing what it can do and all you're doing is tapping the finger and eventually you can't have any of your fingers or tap them on another finger you can tap I think it's your first finger on your middle finger and that's the one that runs to your heart to slow down your heart rate if you're too anxious if I'm wrong somebody please correct me Good Luck God bless and love

I find it useful especially if I'm sitting in a doctor's office waiting and it's late and you're having to wait on the doctor. Or to relax my husband doesn't understand and he just thinks I'm laying there but it's like I'm doing something and if you only heard the the lobby. Singing voice I just made you'd laugh at me I hope you're having a good day
