Effexor
my dr put me on it twice a day and the pallative nurse now wants me on elavil with effexor. is that good to do? i am trying to get off drugs and they just give me more.
I've been prescribed elevavil and effexor both in the past. I had bad reactions. The pharmacist placed notes in the computer so that if a generic of something that's caused me problems like these did is prescribed it can hopefully get caught before I pick the med up. One or both may work for you. I've been dealing with several conditions that result in long term pain for almost 2 decades. After the initial relitively strong pain medication to get through surgeries I went through about 3-4 years as a lab rat prescribed many non narcotic substances as well as alternative treatments before Percocet and oxy's.
With new attitudes, insurance companies and doctors I've been prescribed some of the old stuff, now generic or slightly revamped and under a new name again. Same reactions or no help since one of the reasons I can't tolerate drugs made to treat depression is I'm bipolar. I recommend checking for yourself, like you are, for contraindications and the experiences of other's. Wishing you the best in your search for relief.
The big question is whether or not it really helps you. I found that both my fibromyalgia and arthritis didn't respond to many of the prescribed meds. I decided if they didn't help I wouldn't take them. I'm on ibuprofen periodically and marijuana syrup every night.
True. If you have diabetes. High sugar wouldn't seem to be the best advice in my opinion. It's hard. It's a balance act. I'm glad you are doing research, and thanks to the internet you have access to find out about these drugs. The brain is what sends the pain signals throughout the body. And Medicine keeps changing rapidly.
I research everything they perscribe now because i want to know what the side affects are, and if there worth taking. I want to get better, not create more
Issues. I havent always had good advise from doctors ei: telling me to eat high fat, high sugar, high protein diet to gain weight when diabetes runs heavy in my family. I didnt do the sugar thing as I dont think that was a good longterm fix, as it was, that high calorie, high fat diet, caused more symptoms, so you do have to question things, and how they relate to you. If your finding yourself question it, then its worth researching.
like what it is a low dose but they gave me amtripylime again and heard from her today a pallative nurse and said I was taking too much 50 mg at bedtime.
