Members urged someone experiencing severe foot swelling and leg redness to seek immediate emergency care, with multiple retired nurses strongly emphasizing the potential danger of a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) that could travel to the heart, lungs, or brain. Several members offered practical explanations, noting that while naproxen can cause some swelling and water retention, and prolonged sitting worsens symptoms, the severity described warranted professional evaluation rather than waiting. The member later shared that a bone scan revealed a hairline cuboid fracture in the ankle, and while awaiting a specialist appointment, the community responded with prayers, empathy, and continued encouragement to prioritize their health and pain management.

I am also a retired nurse. I totally agree with Terri's post above. Go to the ER tonight and get it checked. Keep us posted ok? Take care.

I would go to the ER because there is a chance of a DVT blood clot and it's better safe than sorry.
