Wondering how long till I expect to walk normally and if this extreme pain will be gone. I don’t like sitting around doing nothing and want to go back to work as soon as possible

If you can, you might try to get a second opinion. I wouldnt recommend surgery to anyone unless it became absolutely necessary. I gave the same advice to my son and his Mother(he also has severe Scoliosis). In my experience, the surgery really messes you up in a lot of ways. I havent been able to move my back since the surgery. I can only bend at my hips and my neck. Too, there is really nothing, at this point, that can be done for the pain that it caused, as nobody will touch my back due to all the hardware and PT tends to make everything a heck of a lot worse- unbearably worse. So, I have been on opiates/opioids for a very long time now. However, if you think its time, its time. You have to do what you believe is best for you. I, truly, hope you find an answer that works for you, and that your experience is better than mine was. Hugs and prayers!!!

Hmmm. Thank u responding. I really don’t want to have surgery but pain getting pretty bad. I’ll be 51 in a week and I am tired of this pain. Had fusion on my c4-c7 4 yrs ago and it is still giving me trouble. Ugg. Doc says I should do surgery if I still want somewhat of active lifestyle. Says possibility of wheelchair down the road if I don’t. Surgeon is the same as my neck

Well, I almost hate to answer this cuz I dont want to scare you. However, I had rodding and fusion down the entirety of my thoracolumbar spine for Scoliosis when I was 17(about 30 years ago). Unfortunately, recovery was a b**** and my back has been in pain ever since. Of course, as I said, that was forever ago, and it was, basically, my whole back(to my hips). Hope your experience is better than mine has been. Ill be praying, and thinking good thoughts for you.
