Has Anyone Ever Been Put On Levorphanol For Cronic Pain?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was put on levorphanol for pain and wonder if anyone else has had as much relief as I have? I have been on it about 6 months now and I am pleased with the relief I have found with it! I have severe pain from nerve damage. I cant stand anything touching my foot, its awful. My right side was completely damaged from a stroke. This medicine was used in the 1950s. And the company closed, Many years later someone else bought the rights to it. All I know is it has helped! I still find days hard but… read more

Hi Kathy,

I read your message, and got so excited!! I have terrible neuropathy and have tried everything. Gabapentin, Lyrica, Oxycodone, Tramadol, & recently added Embeda. I recently told my son that even though I have had Neuropathy for the past 12 years, even when I reminisce the pain is superimposed on my memories from long ago.

I am actually meeting with meeting with my pain doctor the first week in November to discuss a spinal cord stimulator to help with low back pain and am hopeful that I might get some relieve from the SCS with the peripheral neuropathy.

You have given me some hope for the first time in years!! I can't wait to ask him about Levorphanol!!

Thank you so much for a lead on this drug! I am hopeful once again! I wil keep you updated!

Yes plenty of therpy and many meds and I came off medication to see if I could get natural effects as in food ,diet and that only made me miserable. but after 13 years I think they found the right medicine. Or at least one that helps. I don't feel groggy but some how Its working on the nerves that was damaged. My only problem is that its stimulating the nerves and Im getting feeling where I had none I still hurt daily but at least now I can function..

Hi there!

No, I'm sorry but I have never heard of Levorphanol. Just looked it up. Sounds like a very strong med for pain relief. So glad it's helping you.

Had you tried other meds before being put on that one?

Having a stroke must be terrifying. Did you go thru any type of therapy?

Hugs, Cecilia

I "climbed" the WHO pain ladder as recommended by my neurologist for my chemo induced peripheral neuropathy and found that only Percocet worked for me...45mg/day. Not pain free but at least I can sleep better. We pain patients are being persecuted due to a hysteria created by PROP and one Dr. Kolodny...go ahead...look it up for yourself. It's unconscionable!
