Depending on what is going in the epidural "cocktail" is how you will feel. Usually as soon as the meds wear off the pain comes back, UNLESS it is a medication such as ketamine that blocks NMDA receptors at the glial cell level, thereby stopping the overstimulation of the central nervous system. You'll have to let us know what they are planning to use in the epidural. Then we could answer a bit more knowledgably.

No epidural for back pain ever, even the FDA says No. Arachnoiditis is a large possibility, or some other spinal injury. They're expensive and I had a series of 3, 15 years ago and they worked only the day I had them but I know it was leftover anesthesia.

It is off-label use, and the paralysis can be permanent. I think it is illegal to force someone to have an off label injection in their neck that could have permanent side effects. Radiofrequency ablation are a much safer option.

Research this. This drug is not supposed to be injected in spine, and can cause major problem such as paralysis... Really research this. I stopped because of potential problems. It's written on the package!

Hi I not real good at using the site yet but I did want to comment on the IV ketamine. Treatment. I tried this treatment and I will only say it probably not for everyone. I had a very bad reaction to the drug. I guess you coul d say a bad trip. I wouldn't want to ever experience again. Again every drug works different.
