Chronic Pain Diagnosis
Hi All
I just come back from my first pain clinic appointment and have been told that it unlikely that I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome instead he thinks I have Chronic Pain Syndrome .
Has anyone got the same diagnosis and if so what treatment plan were you given.
Do you think that Chronic Pain Syndrome is an actual diagnosis or is something the doctors say when they don’t know what is wrong with you.
Chronic pain syndrome is a term used by doctors for any pain, regardless of cause, that lasts longer than 6 months. it's long-term pain due to a specific condition such as spine problems, fibromyalgia syndrome, rheumtaoid arthritis, etc. These have all been lumped under "chronic pain syndrome", which is pain due to one or more conditions lasting longer than 6 months. Why this is called a "syndrome" escpes me when there are usually one or more chronic diseases that contribute to chronic pain.
@A MyChronicPainTeam Member I would bet those terms don't get much recognition by outsiders. I had fibromyalgia before it was even called that 25 years ago and chronic fatigue syndrome which outsiders called "The Yuppie Flu." It is pretty denigrating what we have to go through.
My chronic pain began in the late 1970's when I resumed my dance career. I had a number of injuries that I managed to "dance" through, until 1996 when I had just had enough. I went into IT work after a divorce and the pain escalated. I found a good Pain Management doctor and had a 10 hour surgery to correct scoliosis discovered when I was 63 and was able to stop taking opioids for a few months until an injury 3 days before I returned to work after a 6 month medical leave. 15 months after my first surgery I needed a second surgery to extend the rods and screws in my back. I had only 2 weeks recovery time before returning to work and then I started falling constantly. My left foot dropped out both legs gave out which landed me in 2 nursing homes for a 16 month period. Now I am living in the area I love with the man I love awaiting a hip replacement. This man has been on my side for nearly 20 years and we plan to spend the rest of our lives together. It helps make the pain more bearable, along with my pain meds, and I finally see a better life ahead. That is what Chronic Pain means for me.
Ive CPS and 0 treatment plan atm waiting on a pain management clinic appointment approval till then its advil n the occasional celebrix
