Gabapentin?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Southern Maine

After now being forced to wean off all my opioid pain meds that were working... and the Pain clinic put me on gabapentin. I am just looking for comments on how this has worked for others....IF it has worked, dosage.....side effects, etc.
Thanks for any info!!

@A MyChronicPainTeam Member It was my PCP who weaned me off the opioids, but I asked for alternatives, so she set me up for the pain clinic. And actually, she ended up agreeing I NEEDED my pain meds, so sent me there to get a second opinion on my need to be considered palliative care, one of the only conditions to be able to stay on the meds. They were also supposed to certify me for Medical MJ. But....it all backfired, as the Pain clinic doctor beleives all the media hype, and does not agree about my having my pain meds back. I was put on them initially b/c NOTHNG ELSE HAD WORKED. SO.....i am not pleased. AND....they cannot certify ppl for MJ. Waste of time!!

For all asking about gabaphentin.i started with 300mg 3 tmes aday and i had ramp it up to 600mg 3 tmes a day. It works fine.at first you might have to get use to it.you might start off with 300 mg first.some take more some take less.i also take other meds so you need to consider that also.

omg like there is any comparison between oxy or something then to go to gabapentin, that sucks, to put it mildly. all I know is gabapentin made me the crabbiest person in the world and helped with nothing.

I agree @A MyChronicPainTeam Member I couldn't stand the effects of gapapentin, literally was the crabbiest person I the world while taking it and like out of my mind with it. it just shows that each of us are different with medications. Like when someone advocates for a certain antidepressant, I totally don't listen cause I know just because it worked for them it could do the total opposite to me. So to @A MyChronicPainTeam Member try it hunny, it might just work for you, you'll notice symtoms right away, so you will no if you can take them n hey it just might really help you.
