Breaking Point With Pain
I know we all get to that absolute point of breaking because our pain is so intense. My last hope is taking the hottest bath I possibly can and staying in the water as long as I can. After I'm out I get about 20 minutes of good relief. I was just wondering what works for others.
OK so I'm gonna put this out there. I shouldn't but I will. It's not a last hope way to acheive pain relief. I have a hot tub for that. But.....I have noticed that for about 15-20 minutes after sex I have no pain at all. It is absolute heaven in more way than one. I googled it and read that " Sex causes increased production of oxytocin, which is often referred to as the “love hormone”. Before orgasm, oxytocin, released from the brain, surges up to five times the normal level. This increase then leads to the release of endorphins, our natural pain-killing hormones."
@A MyChronicPainTeam Member... have you thought about maybe getting a shower chair so you could be in the shower longer? And my electric blanket is a Godsend. As my pain spread I had to do something different than the heating pad.... useless I wanted to have 4 or 5 of them at a time.,,lol,,, instead my family thinks I'm crazy cause they are going around in shorts and I'm under my electric blanket... but hey it works!💜
I too find Epsom salts in a bath beneficial and also ice packs. I can't relax in a bath because of the double curvature in my spine but have a small memory foam mattress inside a large garden sack which takes pressure off my spine. Social and all Care Companies cannot come put with anything to help me lay on in the bath. I too sometimes have a few hours without pain and cannot believe what heaven that is. Take care. Sending hugs. Ann xx
Go to bed with a relaxation CD
Add Epsom salts to your bath. Dr Teal's has a great variety. When I get into a bath with Dr Teal's Epsom salts it is like the pain slips away. I wish I could really relaxin a bath but I have a hard time relaxing in general. I also have a heating pad I sleep with and I have a heated throw that I got at Costco. Then there are the gel ice packs. What I would do for a day without pain. But then I would think I had died and I am not ready for that. I hope these ideas help. (At first I had a hard time finding Dr Teal's. Amazon has a good selection, but watch the prices). I hope this helps
