Intrathecal Implants
I just got my third intrathecal pump. The surgery didn't go well because the pumps are now 26 years old and have not had any improvements in all that time. The doctor can program them to deliver a certain amount of medication but there is no way of knowing what the patient actually receives. Also there is no reading of the strength of the battery. My old pump was delivering much lower than what it was programmed to deliver because the battery was getting old. So when I got the new pump… read more
I use essential oils and I find that they help reduce my pain level. They won't make the pain go away completely but they do help me.
I have also thought of using essential oils just not wanting to be chasing something that just doesn't work! Have had this so long that I have found myself falling for anything desperate times bring on desperate measures. Pls. Keep me posted if you try. Have a painless day
You know, Jean, I am so not surprised. The doctor doesn't know what happens and they depend heavily on the Medtronic rep. The rep doesn't really care because they have already benefitted from the sale. It's sad. It's irresponsible at the very least. We patients are ultimately responsible even though we have no control. I was never checked on by my Dr or the rep, after I was only minutes from death. They only read the hospital notes. It's despicable. 😡😡😡

I wouldn't use any Medtronic product again. My battery was bad and Medtronic knew, but they didn't notify me or my doctor. It stopped with not warning. Just what we all want is sudden withdrawal. Jean
My pump leaked and I was VERY close to death before my husband found me. Can't sue Medtronic as they have so many lawsuits against them already. I called no less than 20 lawyers and no one would touch it. If you can't use oral meds, try a Fentynal patch. I'm relatively stable now and the pain has greatly improved. Good luck♥️
