Does Anyone With Spinal Problems Suffer From Jaw And Teeth Pain?

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Harrogate, UK

I have spinal stenosis, DDD, multiple slipped discs lumber, T6 and bulging discs in neck.
Lately I have had tremendous Jaw pain on right side and my top or bottom row of teeth ache and feels like pressure is building up around them.. also my front tooth on right side too. Could this be down to my condition or is it some sort of reoccurring migraine? Ta in advance x

My teeth are real sensitive . I think a lot of it is caused through a lot of my medications that are making my teeth very weak , thats what the dentists have said . I have had a lot of dental work done a few years ago . A lot of my problem is , is when I am in a lot of pain I tend to bite down on my teeth kind of clenching my teeth . I have had a night splint made for trying to help with bitting my teeth away also grinding my teeth in my sleep . I also have the problem of opening my mouth wide , because of my neck fusion . So the money I spent on the night splint was a waist of money , as I have trouble putting it in & also taking it out . Just what I had said to the dentist . You can't win ...

I can't chew anything for to long cos of pain n I can't open my mouth very wide so there are a lot of foods I can't eat or even try. Going to the dentist is so stressful for me I have panic attack because of my jaw they can't look at my tooth the way they should.

Yes I do but it's related to tension from the spinal pain. When I'm in pain I tend to clamp down on my teeth and tighten my jaw. I consciously try to relax my jaw. For me chewing gum helps relax my jaw and I wear a mouth guard at night. :)
