Taking Meloxicam For The First Time.

A MyChronicPainTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pasadena, TX

On Friday my Orthopedic Surgeon prescribed Meloxicam (15 mg - once daily). Was wondering anyone's thoughts on the effectiveness of this medicine. I am now taking Indomethacin (and from time to time Naproxen). Was wondering how it compares with those two. And, what's the best way to take it? In the morning? Noon? At night?

Your thoughts?

Thanks and God bless.

I usually take 1 Meloxicam daily. Can't take it while I'm recovering because I'm on blood thinner.

The only thing I'd like to point out about Meloxicam is that it takes a few days to feel the positive effect. It's not a medication to take as needed. You need to take it daily for it to work.

Thanks for your posts, Jean. They've been very helpful. I know a month is a long time in our "chronic pain" world, so I will be praying you receive supernatural relief as you recover from your surgery.

Blessings.

So glad that you have seen some improvement. I can't use Meloxicam for another month because I am on blood thinners for that long, following my heart surgery. I look forward to getting back on it as I've been very ache for a couple of months.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. All have been very helpful. I waited until Thursday to start with the Meloxicam. I must say, I'm seeing a big improvement. So much so that I haven't used my cane since I started taking it. I haven't noticed any side effects as of yet as well (I've only been on it three days). We'll see what happens, but at this moment I'm very thankful to get something new that is helping me (and allowing me to get off the Indomethacin, which I've been on for a long time). Plus, with the new MRI, and a hip shot on the way, I'm starting to think the tide might be turning, hallelujah!

Always and forever ... ALL THINGS through CHRIST!

Blessings to all, and again, thank you so much for your responses. Praying for all to have a pain-free day!
